Mugano has after receiving threats from Mutsvangwa decided to quit commenting on Zimbabwean issues “for security reasons.”

He said the former War Veterans minister made extensive reference to his name and expressed his frustration with the economic commentaries he makes.

“A presser by the governing party cannot be taken lightly. It is serious business,” said Mugano when solicited for an opinion.

Mugano expressed his fears and departure from Zimbabwean economic commentary after being asked for a comment by this publication on the feasibility of Mutapa's investment and its possible contribution to the national coffers.

“Obviously, at such critical platforms where the governing party engages with the public and as part of its statement, it spends several minutes sharing with the world its frustration with a harmless guy from Chimanimani and calls him all sorts of names with so much anger,” he said.

Earlier, Mutsvangwa vehemently pointed out Mugano and Farai Maguwu Director of Centre for Natural Resource Governance as grumpy puppets of the West.

“I can call them political commissars of neo-colonialism,” expressed Mutsvangwa.

Mutsvangwa accused Mugano and Maguwu of being paid by Sacca in South Africa to tarnish the Zimbabwean government and the ruling party in a press briefing that was streamed by several media organizations.

Before the threats, the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University professor was known for speaking his mind out and criticizing the state without fear or favour and his analysis landed him a post on the Zimtrade board
